Agile Adoption – Root Cause – Leaders don’t really understand agile.

Having practiced Agile and Waterfall methods throughout my career, on both big and small projects, it is obvious to me, which one is the superior when it comes to managing quality and speed of delivery. Unfortunately, not everyone is a believer, and more often than not, at least in my humble experience, the primary barrier to broader and more successful adoption of SCRUM and its near cousin Agile, often starts at the top of an organization. Senior leaders, who are and should be the first to expect more from others, should take their own medicine and for those willing to listen I recommend reading the recent article in HBR. Take time to self-reflect how you as a leader, can learn to adapt to the current pace of change and transformation. Ref. HBR Article ” Embracing Agile” (May 2016)
